Be Cuter, I Dare You

I didn't realize I had a collared shirt obsession until I had to round them up for this post. oops...
More often than not, you'll usually find me wearing some version of a collared shirt, dress or anything else with a collar for that matter... I think I'm in love.
Why do I love such a simple thing so much? It's like the perfect mix between a boyfriend fit button-down and a grungy-classic chic top. Is that even a thing... probably not, but that's exactly how I see it.

Say you're going out for dinner with friends and want to look cute and put together, but without looking like you spent 6 hours getting ready. Toss on a collared shirt, dark jeans and you're good to go. So Simple. The two jean tops that I have been rotating through are almost a cropped length. Now don't get me wrong, crops are not my thing in the least, but the almost cropped length is perfect! Sitting just slightly above where your jeans are, it gives a slightly flared look without being too tacky because it isn't sitting directly on your hips.

Now, lets say you're having a super casual day and feel the need to be extra cute while grabbing a coffee. Grab your collared shirt, toss on your favourite oversized sweatshirt and untuck your collar so it hangs overtop the sweatshirt. Again, So Simple. Keep in mind when you're choosing a sweatshirt, you want a neckline with either a crew neck or scoop neck so the collared shirt underneath can sit nicely out of the sweatshirt!

For the past few months, I have been thinking about buying a bow tie to wear with my collared shirts.  I think they're the cutest accessory, making any outfit a bit dressier and it adds to that boyfriend-grunge style I've been loving. Since looking online at bow ties, I've come across some of the most adorable prints and patterns here & here. My favourite though is this corduroy one, which I actually just ordered for myself! Before I committed to buying my own bow tie, I had my boyfriend lend me one of his so I could live out my dream of wearing it and see if the hype was all I had imagined it would be. Good news, it 100% was and I have been raving about them ever since!
