There has not ever, in my entire 23 years of existence been a pair of shoes I have loved more than my Dr. Martens. This is saying a lot; finding shoes is an annoying and time consuming task because I am so picky with how things feel on my feet. Heaven forbid the heel even rubs me the wrong way, or that the pinky toe touches the side if the shoe weird.

I'll let you all in on a little secret of mine, I wear my docs year round-everysingleday. Now that it's officially I no longer get weird looks from strangers while I'm clunking down the street wearing combat boots with a dress. Seems like a win-win situation here. 

• Dr. Martens are for every single person. Guys, this means you too! They are the most unisex boot that ever existed in my opinion. My boyfriend won't go an Edmonton winter without them, and my best guy friends are obsessed with their as well.
• Breaking them is tedious but an absolute necessity, especially with the original leather styles. Grab the thickest winter socks you've got(and bandaids if you blister easily), put on the docs and wear them around the house for a few days before you wear them outside for any length of time!
• I found for mine, I needed to take out the insoles to make it a more comfortable break in (you can always just pop them back in when they've fully broken in)

• If you end up buy the canvas boots, breaking them in is a breeze. I still took out my insoles so they'd be more comfortable in the beginning. 
• The Doc stores in the past few years have started carrying a ton more options for laces. I gravitate to the thicker ribbon laces because they stay tied up a bit better and they add an edgy feel to the boots!
