Mugs.
Something everyone needs, loves and collects whether you'd like to admit that or not. My mug collection has slowly been growing over the past few years and to be honest, nothing makes me happier! There's something about opening up your cupboard and choosing a mug suiting your mood at that exact second, or picking the perfect mug for the evening company you over for causal chit-chat and desserts. If you have known me for any length of time, you've probably received a mug (or two) from me as a present for your birthday, Christmas or even just because! They may or may not be my go to gift okay? My boyfriend always laughs (usually at me) when I tell him I bought another mug for someone and I always proceed to tell him that it's truly the prefect gift. No one wants to spent their own money on a mug they think they'll only use a few times, but when someone else gives it to you, it almost always becomes the favourite mug you need to grab every time you need a drink.
-Three Things to Look for in a Mug-
1. It needs to be large enough to truly enjoy a good sized drink
2. It needs to be adorable and simple enough to sit on the counter as a stand alone entity
3. It needs to be a mug that you're actually going to drink out of and not just store away to look 'pretty'
Who knew there were rules to buying a mug I'm sure you're asking yourself right now, but honestly the difference between a mug and that mug is like night and day.
Urban Outfitters is a dream world when buying mugs. There's not a single mug I wouldn't want to own from there-no exaggeration. It's also where I've gotten most of my 'gifted to me' mugs (see what I said about the perfect gift?!).
Anthropology is also another great place to find some gems. They're a little more on the elegant, vintage, floral side but so beautiful.
With a growing mug collection, it's crucial to have somewhere to keep them and sometimes, the cupboard just doesn't cut it. Say hello to the mug tree! I'd never herd of a mug tree in my entire life until I got one for Christmas. Genius invention.
And here is a more accurate picture of the mug tree from Urban Outfitters because I actually couldn't take a good one myself...
