The Facts are the Facts

If a stranger were to come into my house not knowing a single thing about myself or my family, they'd most likely walk out with three solid assumptions, which would be 100% accurate. First, we have an abundance of shoes. Second, we really really like food. Third, we could open a plant observatory with the amount of plants situated throughout the house.
Now, of these three very, very accurate points, the one I'm going to open up for discussion is the plant observatory. Just to put into perspective so we all understand the immensity of this, there are five thriving orchid plants throughout the house. Not one, not three, but five. This also doesn't include the cacti or succulents or even the 3 bonsai trees we're currently growing.

No matter what time of year it is, weather there was as special occasion or not, regardless if you like it or not, there is always some sort of greenery around. To me, there is nothing better than being able to enjoy a bouquet of flowers! Today we're going to fill you in on the flower in and outs so you too, can bask in all the flower glory.

Where can you buy flowers?
This is going to totally depend on what type of arrangement you're looking for:

    • Safeway is usually where I go when I don't have time to hand pick the stems I want, but am still wanting a beautiful bunch that is going to last a solid week or so
    • The Artworks is a fabulous place to get higher quality flowers as well as a unique variety that you normally won't find at your grocery stores. You can pre-order bouquets from here as well as make your own
    • Zocalo is a new spot to me, but definitely an amazing find. They have both pre made bouquets as well as a great variety of stems to chose from to make you're own. This is where I went this week to grab stems for this post!

How do I properly display the flowers?
    • Once you've got your flowers home, make sure that you have a vase. If you don't, you can literally go anywhere to find one.
    • Fill up the vase with enough water so the stems are submerged
    • Before you put the stems in, make sure you are cutting the bottoms of the stems at an angle. This makes their drinking ability a lot easier, and will make them last longer
    • Place the stems into the vase in which ever order you want making an arrangement
Why would I buy flowers?
    • There's nothing better than walking into a room and seeing a beautiful flower arrangement
    • They add life and color to where you are putting them
    • Being able to give someone else flowers is always a nice thing to do
If you're sitting here thinking this seems so easy and simple, well it is. Go out and grab yourself some nice flowers and have fun arranging them, finding somewhere to put them and enjoying them!
