I remember being probably 6 or 7 and owning a tie-dyed orange red and yellow scrunchie that matched my bright orange and red beach sarong with outlines of geckos on it. Extremely fashionable, I know. When I was that young I had absolutely no reason for liking something unless it held a certain function, and this scrunchie, simply kept all my hair back(which, at that age, was just as a large of a task as it is now). There's not a defining moment I can think of when I stopped wearing it, I just remember it being something I loved and then totally forgot about.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I rediscovered my love for scrunchies. While casually walking through Simons, I came across the most precious succulent scrunchie of all time. Naturally, I immediately started running through all of the cute summery outfits I could wear it with and without a second of hesitation, I bought it. Purchases that easy are probably in my top 10 things I love about causally shopping. Now, as an adult, I have actual reasons for liking things, so here it goes...
For my current... stash...assortment...collection? How many things do you even have to own before you can call it a collection... I've got the succulent one from Simons, which I love how big the ruffle is, and the fact that I can twist it 3 times around my pony tail, a vintage-ish denim one from American Apparel and my newest one (which was hand made!) from the Etsy shop Guylaine Carrier!
Honestly though, for the $6 I paid for each one, I don't know why you wouldn't go out and buy yourself a scrunchie. Before you know it it's going to be a full on trend and the regret will be so real when you're searching for the most original scrunchie but can't find one because everyone is buying them, that you might as well save yourself the hassle and sadness and get one now!
